The 2014 Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy Gala

Phil Hardberger's 80th Birthday Adventure took guests around the world as they enjoyed foods from a few of the many places his travels have taken him.  France, Switzerland, Washington D. C., West Texas and San Antonio were all represented.  Knowing that his heart lies here in San Antonio and in the park that bears his name, Phil's wife, Linda and daughter, Amy surprised him with a plaque that will mark a new park trail, also named for him, in the east side of the park.

While the evening celebrated the past 80 years of his life, Phil let folks know that he is looking to the future and the biggest project to be built in Hardberger Park-- the Land Bridge.  He turned the program over to Steve and Laura Stimson of Stimson Associates, the firm commissioned by the PHP Conservancy to design the bridge.  The Stimson's presented the preliminary drawings of the bridge.  It was clear from their presentation that it will truly be a land bridge like no other; fitting for a park named for a man like no other.
