Phil's Tree

Upon seeing the tree in 2006, Phil Hardberger, then mayor of San Antonio, declared that it and the surrounding land must be preserved.

The first 107 acres were purchased soon after and added to the City’s park inventory. The trail leading to the tree was built in 2014 as a gift from Phil’s wife Linda and daughter Amy in celebration of his 80th birthday.
